Graduate Trader
At VivCourt, you’ll work alongside Traders and Engineers to to craft, optimise, and execute our automated trading strategies. It’s a hands-on role where you’ll dive into new trading ideas, explore their risks, and learn how to model financial markets and enhance our algorithms. You don’t need a background in trading—just a curious mind and a drive to learn.
The Program
What do we look for?
Many of our successful traders have backgrounds in STEM. However, we believe in creating diverse, well-rounded teams and welcome all candidates with the right skills.
Technical Skills
Statistical and Mathematical Knowledge
A solid grasp of probability and mathematical concepts.
Numerical Skills
Strong numerical reasoning and mental arithmetic.
Data Analysis
Experience managing large datasets with machine learning and critical thinking techniques, along with familiarity with tools like Python, R, and MATLAB.
Programming Skills
Programming experience is preferred or a proven interest in learning since our traders work with Python to build tools that support our trading strategies.
Behavioural Skills
Curiosity
You enjoy the process of untangling complexity and learning new concepts to understand how things work.
Good Decision-Making
You’re able to use available information to make quick, intelligent decisions in real time.

Role: Trader
The grad program included ten weeks of structured training. I did a dual degree in Actuarial Studies (Honours) and Statistics at the University of New South Wales, and went on to complete an honours degree in Actuarial Studies. I’ve always enjoyed mathematics from an early age, so a quantitative degree seemed to be a natural choice.
